Our BRGL League has an inter-divisional (North and South) Field Day at the end of the league season every year at the Auburn Golf Course.
The BRGL Field Day consists of 18 holes of golf, carts, and inter-league competition with a shotgun start, cash awards to the winners, and a catered lunch in the Auburn Golf Course Restaurant afterwards. League competition points payouts for the season will also be distributed to all league members at the lunch as well. The format of the Field Day has traditionally been to pair 2 North members with 2 South members in each foursome with similar handicaps where each foursome plays from the same tee box. Guests will be paired with their BRGL member sponsor.
The competition for Field Day will be the same as our weekly season competitions with the addition of 18 Skins. Each foursome will be given an envelope with $58 in it. The competition payouts then will be: 1st Low Net ($10), 2nd Low Net ($5), 4 KPs ($5 each), Fewest Putts ($5) and 18 Skins ($1 each).
We will play Net Skins with Carryover. Each scorecard will show “dots” on the holes where the players receive a stroke (or 2) off of their score for that hole. For example, you score a 6 but you have a dot on that hole, your net score is 5. On each hole you compare net scores and if there is a clear winner of the hole then that player wins the Skin. In the case of a tie, no Skin is awarded for that hole and the players proceed to the next hole. The unclaimed Skin however is carried over to the next hole, whose value rises by 1 to become worth 2 Skins and so on. Since there are 18 holes to play, there are 18 Skins up for grabs.
What to do if there are Skins carried over (unclaimed Skins) after the 18th hole? We leave that up to each group to decide. Here are some options:
- split it evenly among all players in your group
- give it to any player that did not win any skins
- have a putt off after the round
- if there are any ties for low net or fewest putts, give the unclaimed skins to the tie(s)
- do … rock / paper / scissors
