There are some common sense Rules of Etiquette for showing courtesy to your fellow players, to accomodate the scheduled tee times, and to keep the pace of play as quick and smooth as possible:
- Golfers must get to the course at least 30 minutes ahead of your scheduled tee time to accommodate last-minute schedule changes.
- The order of tee-off within each foursome will be as listed on the weekly schedule. The score keeper is generally the first golfer listed in the foursome. The order of play from each subsequent tee is determined by the order of the score from the previous hole. However, we always play “Ready Golf”. Ready Golf means being ready to hit when it's your turn. From the tee that may mean hitting your shot before the player with the honors. In the fairway the furthest from the hole plays first. However, you should move to your ball immediately, providing that doing so is safe.
- Retrieve and replace all divots taken in the fairway or on the tee box. Be courteous of the next golfer. Balls landing in divots are not fun to hit from.
- To avoid complaints of slow play, we need to be moving at a speed that assures a round of golf in 4.5 hours. Each golfer must take it upon him or herself to keep things moving. Try to keep within one stroke of the group in front of you without hitting into them.
- Assess your shots as you are approaching your ball or while others are playing their shots so that when your turn comes you will be ready to hit the ball.
- After hitting out of a bunker, it is the player's responsibility to rake the sand smooth to be ready for the next player.
- Try to speed up play on the green by reading your putt as you approach the green and when others may be putting before you. Repair your ball mark on the green, and please repair others if you have the time. Putt out, unless you will be standing in another player's line or you need to "regroup".
- Be courteous on the green. Do not stand close to or directly in front or behind the ball or the hole while a player is addressing or putting the ball. Otherwise prepare yourself as much as possible for your turn to avoid delay. When the last player has finished putting, leave the green and proceed to the next tee area before recording any scores.
